WVU's junior center was the difference in West Virginia's last gasp 77-74 win over IUPUI.
Fischer dominated the lane against the shorter Jaguars, hitting eight of his ten shotes from the field on his way to a team high 17 points. Fischer also grabbed 11 rebounds to record the first double-double of his career, and added seven blocks to his impressive line score.
Fischer's presence inside kept the Jaguars from adding points in the lane to their impressive outside shooting, and meant as much to the Mountaineers' effort as his scoring did.
"He was the difference in the game," IUPUI head coach Ron Hunter said afterward. "He had a career evening."
Fischer's 25 minutes were the second most on the Mountaineer squad.
