January Visits Begin

West Virginia will host several official football recruiting visits this weekend as the coaching staff heads into the final month of recruiting season.

Although the Mountaineers will likely only have 4-5 scholarships left to offer, they will still host a number of visits over the next three weekends as they attempt to put the finishing touches on the class of 2004.

This weekends visits, which are underway, feature eight players, including one player who has already verbally committed to West Virginia.

Wide receiver Brandon Barrett will make a trip to Morgantown to meet several other prospective Mountaineers. Barrett, who led Martinsburg High School to the state championship game, will be at the WVU campus this weekend as one of the jewels of next year's class.

Players on this weekend's visit list include running backs Anthony Heygood and Alphonso Gross, quarterback Patrick White, wide receivers Keith Brown, Brandon Tate and Cedric Wilson, and safety Matt Sinclair.

In addition to normal recruiting activities, the players will also take in the men's basketball game against Georgetown at noon on Saturday.
