Patrick Beilein came off the bence to score 16 points, but it wasn't enough to keep West virginia from dropping a crushing 69-67 verdict to Virginia Tech on Wednesday.
Despite missing his chance to break WVU's consecutive free throw record, Beilein was sharp from every other area of the floor. The sophomore guard hit five of his six three point attmepts, and added one free throw for his final total.
Beilein also had a rebound and a steal in 26 minutes of action, and played solid defense as WVU battled the Hokies with a 1-3-1 and man to man sets for most of the game.
The Mountaineers twice had seven point leads in the second half, but were unable to hold them as they got just 45 shots from the field.
