Jabbar Young Latest Commit To WVU

It seems like breaking stories always come when we are travelling, and so it was with WVU's latest basketball commitment, Jabbar Young.

Young, who plays at National Christian Academy, has put in a lot of time to improve himself during his tenure under head coach Trevor Brown. Young has dropped almost 40 pounds and has worked to improve his offensive moves in the post.

NCA, which is also the school where current Mountaineer Jonathan Hargett completed his career, is a small prep academy that has become a basketball force in recent seasons.

Young, who plays for the D.C. Assault AAU team, isn't a dominating inside scoring threat yet, but figures to improve more in that arena under Brown's tutelage. At 6-10 and 265 pounds, Young has the size and strength to battle with the biggest in the Big East.

Young averaged ten points, eight rebounds and two assists per game at NCA last season. Young did not play particularly well for D.C. Assault over the summer, partly due to the run and gun style of most AAU teams, which doesn't fit his style. Young also attended the adidas ABCD camp over the summer.

Teams showing interest in Young included Wake Forest, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, LaSalle, St. Joe's, Temple, Drexel, George Washington and Tulane.
