When the chips were down, WVU's junior forward came up with the play of the game to send Marshall to yet another defeat in the Capital Classic.
Sally's soaring rebound and tip in off a missed Joe Herber layup with 29 seconds left in the game gave the Mountaineers a three point lead, and was without question the biggest play of the night. Sally capped his game ending heroics by grabbing a defensive rebound after a Herd miss on their next possession, then calmly canning four straight free throws in the waning seconds to give WVU a 55-51 win.
Sally hit five of his eight shots from the field, and added a solid 8-11 performance from the line to lead WVU with 18 points. Perhaps more importantly, Sally was a defensive presence as well, grabbing seven rebounds and adding three steals to his line in 35 minutes of action.
The 6-7 junior also had two assists off drives to the basket where he forced the action and made Marshall defenders commit to him before dishing the ball to teammates for scores.
