WVU Leads Pack Again

Once again, West Virginia has finished atop the rankings of the Big East Football All-Academic Team. The Mountaineers tied with Pitt, Temple and Miami atop the charts with ten selections to the squad, giving WVU an all-time best 101 selections in the 13 seasons of Big East play.

West Virginia has led or tied for the most players on the All-Academic team in nine consecutive seasons.

WVU's Brian King earned a double double with his selection to both the All-Big East first team and the All-Academic squad.

The All-Academic Team recognizes letterwinners who have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Student-athletes who have completed a minimum of two semesters of academic work and earned a letter are eligible. It is the 12th consecutive season the BIG EAST has honored its student-athletes with an academic team.

In addition to Brian King, other Mountaineers named to the 2003 All-Academic team include senior punter Todd James, senior fullback Adam King, junior linebacker Adam Lehnortt, junior wide receiver John Pennington, junior snapper Scott Fleming, sophomore offensive tackle Garin Justice, freshman linebacker Jay Henry, fresman center Jeremy Hines, and freshman offensive guard Dan Mozes.
