Player of the Game - Villanova

D'or Fischer broke the WVU season record for blocked shots and scored ten points, but it wasn't nearly enough to prevent a loss at Villanova on Saturday.

On a day when the entire Mountaineer team seemed sluggish, Fischer offered at least a couple of bright spots in WVU's 73-58 loss.

The junior center broke Marcus Goree's single-season record for blocked shots by rejecting a Wildcat attempt with 5:55 to go in the first half, and added another in the second half to finish with three on the day. That gives Fischer 72 rejections on the season, with at least nine games to go.

Fischer sparked WVU's early play, scoring six of the Mountaineers' first eight points (and assisting on the other) to keep the Mountaineers close. He added another hoop to make it eight of West Virginia's first 17 points, but could add only two free throws in the second half for his final total of ten.

Fischer finished with just three reobunds, but also had an assist to add to his 4-8 shooting form the field and 2-4 performance from the free throw line. He played just 28 minutes after getting into foul trouble midway through the second half.
