Hackett and Cobourne are honored by Big East

Shawn Hackett grabbed everything in sight on Saturday at Mountaineer Field and Avon Cobourne ran to daylight for 4 TD's, so it's fitting that they both were honored by the Big East Conference.

Avon Cobourne, along with Panther QB David Priestley were named Co-Offensive players of the week by the Big East Conference.

Cobourne had 147 yards rushing on 19 carries, 4 touchdowns and a total of 24 points. The 4 touchdowns and 24 points are Mountaineer Field records!

On the defensive side of the ball, Shawn Hackett was named Big East Defensive player of the week for his dominating performance against Rutgers. Hackett's two fumble recoveries, paired with the interception, were probably enough to win the award. The fact that he returned two of those turnovers for touchdowns cemented it in stone. Hackett also threw in 6 tackles and 1 pass break-up for good measure. He played a little over 2 quarters.

Rounding out the awards was Phillip Buchanon who received the Special Teams player of the week.
