Player of the Game - Miami

West Virginia's man in the middle came through in a big way as the Mountaineers knocked Miami out of the Big East tournament and locked up an NIT bid with a 58-53 win.

Fischer displayed an excellent all-around offensive game as he helped WVU get off to a good start. Fischer scored nine of the Mountaineers' first 16 points, and that solid start helped WVU weather some Miami runs later in the game. Fischer also converted a pair of conventional three-point plays, both of which capped WVU comebacks.

Fischer also had two huge plays down the stretch to help the Mountaineers grab the victory. First, the 6-11 junior grabbed a big defensive rebound off a Darius Rice miss to keep the game tied, then went to the other end for the play of the game. With the score tied at 53 with two minutes to go, Fischer snared a Patrick Beilein miss and laid the ball back in to give WVU a two-point lead.

Fischer scored 19 points on 8-10 shooting, and hit three of his four free throws to account for his total. He added five rebounds, three blocks, two assists and no turnovers in 35 minutes of action.
