Women's Soccer Advances to Finals

The Mountaineer women's soccer team recorded another first on Friday by defeating Connecticut 1-0 in the semifinals of the Big East Conference Tournament.

The win puts WVU in the finals of the Big East Tournament for the first time in their history.

Chrissie Abbott recorded the only score of the game on a goal assisted by Lisa Stoia.

This will be the first time since 1994 and only the second time in league history that Connecticut has not played in the championship game.

The Mountaineers will face Notre Dame, who advanced with a 3-0 victory over Boston College. The championship game will take place at the Rutgers Soccer Stadium on Sunday, November 11 at noon.
