Player of the Game - Kent State

WVU's slashing forward shook off a shot to the face to lead the Mountaineers past Kent State in the opening round of the NIT.

Sally, who was termed "a warrior" by head coach John Beilein, scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Mountaineers defeated the Golden Flashes by the score of 65-54. Sally hit five of his 11 shots from the field, including three of six from downtown, to pace the WVU attack.

About the only place Sally struggled was at the free throw line, where he hit just four of his ten tries. However, he more than made up for it with his all-around play that inspired his teammates.

The Virginia native grabbed three big offense rebounds out of his total of nine, dished out two assists, and had three steals and a block in 37 minutes of action. The only time Sally left the court was after an inadvertent blow to the nose that kept him sidelined for three minutes in the second half.
