Twice As Nice!

Junior wrestler Greg Jones captured his second NCAA national championship with a convincing 10-5 win over Ben Heizer of Northern Illinois.

Jones dominated the championship match throughout, scoring early in the first period and maintaining the lead the entire way. Jones did not yield an offensive point to Heitzer, who was the number two seed coming into the tournament.

Jones, who completed a perfect 26-0 season int he 184 pound eight class, also notched his thrid win against the talented Husky. Jones defeated Heitzer 2-1 and 10-6 earlier this year.

The Slickville, Penn., junior did not give up an offensive point in the entire tournament, and may have staked a claim to most outstanding wrestler honors. Jones became the first wrestler to win two NCAA titles at West Virginia, having won a title in the 174 pound class two years agao as a freshman.

Scott Collins a 1991 winner at 142 pounds and Dean Morrison, the 1994 titlist at 177 pounds, are the only Mountaineers beside Jones with NCAA championships.
