Player of the Game - Rutgers

WVU's man in the middle was again a defensive force, but this time it wasn't quite enough as the Mountaineers dropped a tough loss to Rutgers to end their season.

Fischer backed up his nine blocked shots against Rhode Island with another six against Rutgers as WVU dropped a gut-wrenching 67-64 decision to the Scarlet Knights. Fischer's blocked shot and subsequent dunk on the offensive end sparked WVU's comeback from an early 12-3 deficit, and he continued his solid play throughout his 32 minutes of action.

Fischer again demonstrated his soft shooting touch, canning eight of his ten free throw attempts and making four of seven tries from the field. He also collected five rebounds and a steal. Fischer hit four straight free throws down the stretch, both times converting a pair while the Mountaineers faced two-point deficits.

The big center finished the season with 124 rejections, which obliterated the single-season record held by Marcus Goree. Given a healthy senior year, Fischer could hold the career record by the middle of next season.
