Football Schedule Upgrade

WVU has announced a new opponent for future football schedules.

West Virginia University will play Mississippi State in football in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, athletic director Ed Pastilong announced today.

The Mountaineers will play in Starkville in 2006, and the Bulldogs will return the trip to West Virginia during the 2007 campaign.

"Our goal has been to add a tradition-rich football school from one of the so-called power conferences such as the SEC, and Mississippi State certainly fits the bill," says head football coach Rich Rodrgiuez. "There's an added bonus for us in that we recruit in that state. It's a win-win for our fans and for our football program."

West Virginia concludes its spring drills Saturday in the Gold-Blue Game. Kickoff is 12:30 at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. Admission is a $5 donation to WVU Children's Hospital.
