RedHawk women upset WVU

Miami (Oh) upsets the Mountaineer women's soccer team.

The 12th ranked Mountaineer Women's soccer team lost its first round match in the 2001 NCAA Championships to the Miami (OH) Redhawks.

The Redhawks took the lead for good in the first half on a penalty kick goal by Danielle Berkemeier at the 25:21 mark. The Mountaineers out shot the Redhawks 14-3 in the first half. WVU's offense was lead by Chrissie Abbott with 8 shots on goal.

In the second half the defensive struggle continued. Again, the Mountaineers out shot the Redhawks 15-3 but WVU was unable to sneak one by Katie Karlander, the Redhawk goalie.

WVU ends its season with a 15-5-1 record. Miami (OH) will face Dayton on Sunday.
