Summer Basketball Tour Finalized

The West Virginia University men's basketball team has completed its summer tour plans of Europe in August. The Mountaineers will play a total of six games – two against the Dutch National Team, two versus the Czech National Team and two against the German Club Team.

"This will be the third time in the past 12 years that I've taken a team internationally for summer competition," says Beilein. "Both of the previous trips have been beneficial in player development as well as building team chemistry and unity."

Beilein was reportedly instrumental in setting up the schedule, and finalized much of the trip without the help of tour services.

The Mountaineers will begin practice in Morgantown on Sunday, August 1, and practice through August 8. Coach John Beilein's squad will depart Morgantown on Monday, August 9, for Germany.

Once arriving in Germany, the Mountaineers will travel to Holland for games against the Dutch National Team on August 12 and 13. West Virginia will then travel to the Czech Republic for two games against the Czech National Team on August 16 and 17. WVU will close out its schedule in Germany on August 18 and 19, with two games against the German Club Team. The Mountaineers will depart Germany on August 21, to return to Morgantown.

All returning Mountaineer players are eligible for the trip, incoming freshmen are not. The NCAA permits teams to travel internationally for summer competition once every four years. The Mountaineers last traveled internationally in the summer of 2000 when they went to Australia and New Zealand.
