Athletics sponsoring toy, food drives

The WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is working with the Morgantown Lions Club and the U.S. Marine Corps to make the holiday season brighter for area families.

The organizations will be collecting canned goods and toys during two WVU men's basketball games this month in exchange for a coupon for a free ticket to an upcoming game -- WVU vs. Duquesne (Dec. 19), WVU vs. Providence (Jan. 30) or WVU vs. Virginia Tech (Feb. 13).

All fans have to do is bring a non-perishable food item or a new toy worth at least $2, and they will get a coupon to redeem at the Mountaineer Ticket Office.

The Lions Club will be holding its annual food drive at the basketball game against Florida International this Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.

The Toys for Tots campaign will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Robert Morris game. Both groups will have collection sites at the Blue and Gold gates at the WVU Coliseum. Make a donation, brighten someone's holiday, and enjoy a Mountaineer game - what more could you ask for!
