WVU Keeps Stranglehold on Big East Awards

West Virginia racked up a pair of honors in the latest edition of the Big East Conference players of the week.

For the third straight week, West Virginia has players in the Big East conference's weekly football awards.

Running back Kay-Jay Harris shared the Big East Offensive Player of the Week award with Boston College's Paul Peterson, while defensive back Adam Jones shared the defensive honor with Syracuse's Anthony Smith.

Harris (Tampa, Fla.) wins the award for the second time this season after rushing for 142 yards and a touchdown in a 19-16 overtime win over Maryland. The senior tailback had 32 carries en route to his second game over 100 yards this year. He has rushed for 486 yards in three games this season, the third-best rushing start in Big East history.

Jones (College Park, Ga.) posted a team-high eight tackles in the Mountaineer victory over Maryland. The junior defensive back recorded two interceptions, which he returned for a total of 51 yards, with one pass break-up.
