New Year Verbal

West Virginia has reportedly received a verbal from junior college tight end Jason Hardee of the College of San Mateo in California.

At six foot four and two hundred seventy pounds, Hardee obviously has the size to step in and contribute early for the Mountaineers.

He caught 18 balls for 266 yards and seven touchdowns this year for CSM, which went 8-2 on the season.

Hardee played his first year of junior college football at City College of San Francisco, which has long been a power in the juco ranks. CCSF was the number one ranked juco team in the nation by several publications this year.

This past season, Hardee transferred to the College of San Mateo, where he displayed the ability to get downfield and catch deep balls as well as work the shorter routes.

CSM finished 26th in the country in GridWire's juco rankings.

Hardee is orginally from Serra High School, where he played both football and basketball. Serra is a small private school on the outskirts of San Francisco that boasts a long list of famous athletic alumni, including Barry Bonds and Lynn Swann.
