Player of the Game - Duquesne

On a night that featured several candidates, seniro forward Tyrone Sally stepped forward to grab our player of the game honors.

Sally helped lead WVU past the pesky Duquesne Dukes with 15 points and numerous big plays. Sally's first half steal and jam gave the Mountaineers an early lead, and in the second half his free throws broke a nearly seven minute scoring drought to put WVU back in front by two points at 51-49.

On the evening, Sally made five of nine shots from the field and converted all four of his free throw attempts. He added four rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and one steal in 35 minutes of action.

The win, which WVU gained only after the Dukes missed a pair of potential game-tying three pointers in the final seconds, moves the Mountaineers to 2-0 on the season.

Sally and the Mountaineers will remain in Pittsburgh overnight, then fly to Louisiana on Thursday to begin preparations for LSU. The Mountaineers and Tigers square off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
