West Virginia's Sherell Sowho's performances against St. Francis and Coppin State earned her a share of the Big East basketball player of the week award.
In a 2-0 week for West Virginia
, Sowho averaged
23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in wins
over St. Francis (Pa.), 74-68, and Coppin State,
67-53. She was a combined 17-of-30 (.567) from
the field and went 7-of-14 from three-point range, including 4-
of-6 against Coppin State.
Against St. Francis, she scored a
game-best 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting and three three-pointers.
Sowho scored another game-best 24 points, was 4-
of-4 from the foul line and added five rebounds and three blocks
versus Coppin State.
Sowho's award marked the third consecutive week that a Mountaineer has won or shared conference player of the week honors. Yolanda Paige and Meg Bulger won the award the previous two weeks.
