Fifty-Fifty for Top Line Prospect

A three-star offensive line prospect has completed his visits and narrowed his final list to two schools, but the choice is going to be a difficult one.

"It's goin to be a tough decision," Germantown, Md. offensive lineman Jon Walko said of the choice between West Virginia and Virginia Tech. "It's 50-50 right now."

Walko, who says he has completed his visits after a trip to Virginia Tech this past weekend, will now talk his decision over with his family and pick the school where he will continue his career.

"I've made some lists, and each school has pros and cons," said the 6-6, 290-pound lineman. "I haven't thought about listing out the criteria that I'll make my decision on. It will probably end up being more of a gut feeling - which school will be right for me.

One criteria that definitely won't be considered is conference affilitation.

"I don't care about that much," Walko said. "They are both big-time Division 1 schools, and that's what is important. I just want to play football."

Before he can continue his career, however, Walko has to choose his school. It's a task that he didn't think would be this difficult.

"At first, I didn't think it would be that hard to choose," Walko admitted. "But now that it's down to two, it's really tough. I don't have a timetable yet - I just need to talk it over with my parents and think about it."

The coaching staffs at both schools are obviously hoping for a big Christmas present (whether on time or not) from the outstanding line prospect, but for right now they'll have to hold their anticipation, just like millions of kids around the world are doing right now.
