"It's hard for any young man to make that decision," she said of her son's college choice. In the end, I think he just felt West Virginia was a little better for him."
Mrs. Walko, who, along with her husband Bob, accompanied Jon on his trip to WVU, was likewise impressed with the Mountaineer program.
"It was first class all the way," she said. "We had a great weekend. We didn't sit still for one minute. They had a lot of special things lined up for the boys to do."
Walko's commitment gives West Virginia two offensive linemen in the Class of 2005. He joins Frank Carduff of Shenandoah Valley on WVU's commitment list.
Walko's verbal certainly doesn't signal the end of offensive line recruits in this year's class. The Mountaineers are expected to sign as many as four or five linemen on the first Wednesday in February.
