Weather Has Little Effect on Recruiting Weekend

One of the concerns of any football recruiting weekend is the weather. A predicted snowfall for Morgantown failed to materialize in the amounts predicted, so the recruting weekend was not seriously affected.

Among those scheduled to visit, only Jacksonville wide receiver Kenneth Tookes did not make the trip. Tookes, who has verbally committed to Florida, was a long shot for the Mountaineers at this point.

Other players making the trip to West Virginia included Dwayne Thompson, a quarterback from Killian High School in Miami and linebacker/defensive back Ben Clemons from Alabama. Thompson (6-2, 180, 4.5) is a run/pass quarterback who led the Cougars to the semifinals of the Class 6A football championships.

Approximately 13-15 official visits are slated for next weekend, which figures to be the last big weekend for offers. The final weekend of recruiting before the February 6 signing date is expected to be mostly reserved for walkon candidates.
