Player of the Game - N.C. State

WVU's outstanding team play made it difficult to pick a player of the game in the Mountaineers' 82-69 win over North Carolina State on Sunday.

At least five players made strong cases for selection, and in the end any of them would have made a fine choice for the honor. On this afternoon, though, we're going with the all-around play of Joe Herber.

WVU's jack-of-all-trades was all over the court for the Mountaineers during their huge win. He hit six of 10 shots from the field, including two big jumpers that halted Wolfpack runs, and finished the game with 15 points. He also canned three of his four three point attempts.

Perhaps even more impressive was his energy on both ends of the floor. Herber drove to the basket hard and pushed the ball aggressively, all of which put pressure on the N.C. State defense.

"Today I had a bigger guy on me, so it was a little easier to drive," Herber noted afterward. I am working on doing that against everyone - driving under control. I use my shoulder a lot, and I got a couple of pushoff calls against LSU, so it's a fine line, but I like the contact.

Herber filled out an impressive line with six rebounds, two assists and a block in 32 minutes of action.
