Weekend Visits

West Virginia expects nine players on official visits for the penultimate weekend of the football recruiting season.

Defensive back Brandon Wright of East High School in Memphis Tennessee heads an impressive list of visitors this weekend. Wright is an excellent cover cornerback who is down to Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arkansas and WVU.

Also slated is linebacker William Beckford of Pahokee, Florida. Beckford (6-0, 200, 4.8) is a player who loves contact and rushes the passer well. He visited Rutgers last weekend.

The Mountaineer coaching staff made a sweep through Mississippi and Alabama last weekend, and two players from the latter are expected to visit.

On that list are offensive lineman Andre Wright (6-4, 250, 5.5) of Mobile and defensive tackle Jamaal Cooper (6-5, 305, 5.0) of Montgomery.

The Midwest connection continues to be worked as well, and two more visits from that area are scheduled. Defensive back Krys Williams (5-9, 165) of Mesquite, Texas and linebacker Jay Henry (6-2, 205, 4.6) of Jenks, Oklahoma will join the cavalcade east for WVU on Friday.

WVU also continues to recruit players who have made previous verbal commitments. This week's targets are safety Brandon Douglas (6-0, 190, 4.4) who has committed to Texas Tech, and linebacker Glenn Jackson (6-1, 190) who has verballed to Oklahoma State.

This week's verbal commitment making his official visit is wide receiver J.T. Perry.

The number of visits was originally scheduled to be ten, but wide receiver Broderic Jones is not expected to travel this weekend due to a death in the family.
