Mountaineers Lead Big East Again

For the tenth consecutive season, West Virginia led the Big East conference in selections to the conference academic All-Star team.

WVU placed ten players on this year's squad, which continued the Mountaineers' stranglehold on top honors.

This year's honorees include:

Jeff Berk, Tim Brown, Scott Fleming, Jay Henry, Jeremy Hines, Garin Justice, Adam Lehnortt, sophomore Dan Mozes, junior Jeff Noechel and John Pennington.

Berk, Brown and Mozes were also first team Big East selections for their play on the field, while Lehnortt was a second team pick. The total of four dual picks for WVU was also tops in the conference.

West Virginia also leads the all-time selections list with 111 in 14 seasons of conference play.

The All-Academic Team recognizes letterwinners who have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Student-athletes who have completed a minimum of two semesters of academic work and earned a letter are eligible.
