More Turmoil for Embattled Hoops Squad

Senior guard Lionel Armstead has been suspended from the men's basketball team.

Armstead was suspended from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules. Mountaineer head coach Gale Catlett said he had not yet considered how long the suspension will be.

Armstead has been suffering through a subpar senior season in which he was averaging only 10.8 points per game on 38.9% shooting from the field.

Also, point guard Tim Lyles, who is sitting out this season after reconstructive surgery on his knee, was also suspended. It is not known if the two suspensions were related.

The disciplinary actions are just the latest blow to the reeling Mountaineer squad, who have won only once since December 22nd and currently stand at 8-13. WVU faces a must win home game with Seton Hall Saturday at the WVU Coliseum.
