Pair At PIT

A pair of WVU seniors begins play on Thursday at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT), one of the top showcases for rising professional talent in the country.

The PIT, which is being held for the 53rd consecutive season, attracts scouts from just about every professional league as players compete for four days in Portsmouth, Va. The PIT is the only post-season event that is held prior to the ultra-exclusive Chicago Draft camp.

The NBA, and even the USA, aren't the sole pro stops represented at the camp. Scouts from numerous other leagues, as well as from overseas professional circuits, are also well-represented at this camp, which is limited to 64 collegiate players split among eight teams. Former Mountaineer standout Marcus Goree jumpstarted his European professional career with a good showing at the PIT.

D'or Fischer
The PIT began with a pair of games on Wednesday evening, and continues Thursday through Saturday. Sally and Fischer are scheduled to play in the 7:00 p.m and 9:00 p.m games on Thursday, and will play in another game on the weekend as well.

Mountaineer forward Tyrone Sally will play for the Portsmouth Sports Club team, while center D'or Fischer will try to impress scouts as a member of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard squad. Fischer is the only center on his team's roster, while Sally is one of three forwards on the Portsmouth Sports Club team.
