PIT Report

Two Mountaineer graduates have finished their play at the Portsmouth Invitational -- one of two predraft NBA camps that give players a final chance to impress pro scouts.

Tyrone Sally and D'or Fischer each played three games at the Portsmouth Invitational, and actually squared off against each other in their second game of the week. Sally's Portsmouth Sports Club team won the head to head matchup with Fischer's Norfolk Naval Shipyard squad, and went on to win the championship over Holiday Inn Portsmouth.

Sally got fewer minutes than any other player on his team, and had a slow start in the tournament. In his first game, he had just two points and three rebounds in 19 minutes action, and followed that up with four points, four rebounds and a steal in just 16 minutes in the win against Fischer's NNS team.

In the final, Sally had his best game, making both of his three point attempts and scoring 11 points in just 15 minutes to help his team win the PIT title. He also had two assists and two steals.

Fischer had a better individual tournament, and may have gained the notice of some scouts there. He scored seven of his team's first 13 points and finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds in 24 minutes. Fischer seemed to be relaxed and enjoying himself in this atmosphere.

In game two, against Sally's sqaud, Fischer received just 18 minutes of play, but still managed to contribute five points and six rebounds in a 92-59 loss. He bounced back in the final with 13 points and five rebounds to help NNS win third place in the tournament.
