National Training Center Welcomes Three

The first 3 participants in the Sunkist Kids National Wrestling Training Center at West Virginia University have been signed, and on the list is a familiar name to Mountaineer fans.

The three grapplers, who are the first of what will be an elite group participating in the National Training Center on WVU's campus, are Mountaineer senior Greg Jones, Arizona State assistant coach Kellen Fluckiger, and former Northern Illinois Scott Owen.

Jones, a three-time national champion at WVU, will join Fluckiger, who is ranked fourth in the country 160 kg class, and Owen, who is ranked sixth in the nation in the 66 kg class. All three will come to Morgantown this summer following the U.S. Open and World Trials in June.

The trio will be the inital members of the the National Training Center, which is a joint venture between the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club Association, USA Wrestling (the national governing body for all wrestling in the United States), and West Virginia University. The Center is the nation's second official training center for the U. S. Olympic program, and is equivalent to the original program in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

At least two more top level wrestlers are expected to join the program soon.
