WVU Not First to Court Lebo

One of the names at the top of the candidate list to replace Gale Catlett at West Virginia University is Tennessee Tech's Jeff Lebo. However, this is not the first time Lebo has been on the list of candidates to fill a major head coaching vacancy.

Lebo was contacted by administrators at both North Carolina and Tennessee when those coaching jobs came open, and he interviewed for the Tennessee position.

Lebo has been contacted by WVU concerning the vacant WVU job, but Tennessee Tech would not comment specifically on whether or not WVU has requested or received permission to talk to Lebo.

"It's the policy of our athletic director that we will not release the names of schools that have contacted us for permission to speak to our coaches," Sports Information Director Rob Schabert said. "However, when we are asked, we typically grant permission."

Attempts to contact Jeff Lebo and his father, Dave, a Tennessee Tech assistant, were unsuccessful. Reportedly, Jeff Lebo was in Chattanooga for a seminar, and is scheduled to go to Atlanta for the Final Four this weekend.

WVU athletic director Ed Pastilong has already stated that he will attend the Final Four this weekend, so a meeting with Lebo could be in the offing.
