Overseas Update

Joe Herber tossed in a team-leading 14 points to help Germany hold off Iran in the World University Games on Saturday by the score of 64-60.

Herber was 5-10 from the field, including 2-5 from beyond the arc. He added three rebounds, two assists and four steals to his all-around effort.

In the game immediately following Herber's at the Ataturk Sports Hall, Mike Gansey had seven points and four rebounds in the USA's 85-70 win over Slovakia.

Again coming off the bench, Gansey hit a pair of three pointers and one free throw to account for his total. For the second consecutive game, the wiry Mountaineer senior did not commit a turnover.

Both the U.S. and Germany are now 2-0 in group play. The two teams play each other on Sunday in the next contest for both squads.
