The injury bug bit hard at Wednesday's football practice.

After a relatively injury free week and a half, the Mountaineer football team sustained a pair of big injuries on Wednesday.

Tight end Tory Johnson suffered a dislocated shoulder, while linebacker Adam Lehnortt sustained a dislocated elbow according to WVU officials. Johnson was hit and went down on extra point drills, while Lehnortt dislocated his elbow after receiving a crushing block from Tim Brown and falling to the turf of the Caperton Indoor Facility.

There was no immediate prognosis on either injury, but it would appear unlikely that either would be able to return this spring if the injuries are as serious as reported.

As if those two injuries weren't bad enough, bandit Jermaine Thaxton sustained a bruised shoulder early in the scrimmage session and missed the rest of practice with an ice bag on his shoulder.

Others missing time included nose guard Earnest Hunter, who limped off on a bad ankle, and quarterback Danny Embick, who was held out of passing due to what was termed as a "tired arm". Hunter returned after missing a few snaps.

Embick does not have an injury, but was given the day off from passing to avoid overstress. WVU has just three quarterbacks in spring drills.

On the plus side, running back Hikee Johnson, who returned to duty yesterday, ran the ball effectively and appeared to be moving without much limitation.
