Two West Virginia Mountaineers earned player of the week honors from the Big East conference.
Linebacker Jay Henry
shared the defensive player of the week award by registering six tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a key fourth quarter fumble recovery in a 31-19 win at Maryland
. He helped hold the Terrapins to 50 yards rushing – marking the third consecutive game that WVU has held an opponent under 100 yards rushing. Henry had two key third down stops in the Mountaineer win.
Placekicker Pat McAfee joined Henry on the awards list, capturing Special Teams player of the week honors by virtue of his strong kicking leg.
McAfee kicked a career-long 40-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to help seal the Mountaineer victory. Of McAfee's six kickoffs in the game, five were for touchbacks, including four in the decisive fourth quarter.
