Football Additions

Two players with a chance to enroll early have committed to the Mountaineer football program, according to the Charleston Daily Mail.

The first is Kevin "Kay Jay" Harris, a 6-2, 235 pound running back who played last year at Garden City Community College in Kansas. Harris was a star performer at Tampa Bay Tech High, but chose baseball over football after an automobile wreck cut short his senior season in 1996.

Harris played baseball from 1997-2000, and enrolled at Garden City in August of 2001. He will be 24 years old by the time he enrolls at WVU. If he graduates in December, Harris could enroll at WVU in January of 2003.

Harris was a second team all-Jayhawk conference selection last year at Garden City, where he rushed for more than 1100 yards.

The second player is wide receiver Derrick Smith from Ventura College in California. Smith had 16 catches for the Pirates during the past season.
