Recruiting Update: Jarmon Collins

The Mountaineer basketball program is very close to obtaining a commitment from point guard Jarmon Collins.

Collins, a 5-10 point guard, hails from Westbury Christian School in Houston, Texas. He graduated in May of 2001, and was reportedly qualified, but didn't get attention from the level of schools he wanted to attend.

Collins told the Fayetteville Observer that he was injured for much of his senior season, which hampered his play and led to a decreased interest from college recruiters.

Despite the injury, Collins was a first team private school All-State selection as a senior at Westbury.

As a result, Collins packed his bags and headed for Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, New York, for a year as a post graduate in prep school.

Collins averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for a below average Redemption squad this past season. He shot 40% from the three point line and 85% from the foul line.
