Second Signing For Hoops

WVU head coach John Beilein continues to mine Texas as he announced his second recruit on Wednesday.

Johannes "Jo" Herber, a 6-6, 205-pound guard from Germany, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Mountaineers. Herber, a member of the German nunior national team, played in Dallas last year and is scheduled to do so again this summer.

Herber, a native of Darmstadt, Germany, attends Schuldorf Bergstrasse High School, but played for the Tv Langen Club team, where he averaged 15 points, four rebounds and four assists per game.

"Jo Herber is similar to the type of versatile players we recruited at Richmond," says Beilein. "He is a big guard who sees the floor and shoots the ball well, which is typical of most European players. Jo is another intelligent player who will allow us to change different offenses and defenses during the season."

Herber can reportedly play either the two, three or four positions.

Herber, an outstanding student in the classroom, has satisfied test score requirements for freshman eligibility.
