The Mountaineers struggled in the game, shooting only 36 percent from the field. Meg Bulger and Olayinka Sanni, WVU's two leading scorers, were held to a combined 14 points. Both Sanni and Bulger spent most of the first half on the bench as both players picked up two fouls early on.
The Mountaineers started out strongly as Chakhia Cole made a layup to give WVU a 24-16 lead. WVU continued its streak as Meg Bulger came back into the game for the last 30 seconds of the half, and hit a huge three to extend the WVU lead to 29-19 at the break.
Shantel Brown brought the Hall back into the game as she hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 33-26 with 16 minutes to go in the second half.
After Seton Hall had trimmed the WVU lead to four, Kelly hit a big two pointer from the foul line to give the Mountaineers a 40-34 lead with 11 minutes to go in the second half.
Seton Hall, however, would just not go away, and eventuall tied the contest with four seconds remaining on a three-pointer by Shantel Brown.
From there the game went into overtime, and when Meg Bulger fouled the Mountaineers couldn't produce any momentum, shooting only 2-7 from the field in the overtime period. Seton Hall shot 4-5 in overtime, and the Pirates carried their momentum into overtime to grab the win over the Mountaineers.
WVU out rebounded the Pirates 42-36, but turned the ball over 23 times, to Seton Hall's 17. WVU was 16-23 from the foul line, but only 9-15 in the second half.
With this loss, WVU falls to 7-4 and 0-1 in Big East play. The Mountaineers have never won at Seton Hall under Coach Carey.
WVU will travel next to Syracuse for a 7 o'clock match up against the Orange. WVU has won its last three meetings against the Orange.
