Lyons Makes Decision

Woodland Hills wide receiver Wes Lyons ended an intense recruiting battle with a delayed decision on Thursday night.

Speaking at a press conference that was scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m, Lyons did not make his announcement until 8:25 p.m. Only then did he reveal that West Virginia is his college choice.

Lyons, who had numerous offers, but had his final decision come down to West Virginia and Ohio State. He kept attendees guessing until the final moment, as the room was decorated with both West Virginia and Ohio State colors.

Boston College also made a late run to attempt to get into the picture, but in the end the Mountaineers' long year of recruiting paid off.

Lyons got a close up look at WVU when he attended a football team camp over the summer. Woodland Hills made it to the semi-finals of that event, and Lyons was a standout performer on the fields at the Mountaineer football complex.

Lyons was an all-WPIAL, and all-area pick, and was also named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22" team. As a senior, he caught 21 passes for 466 yards. As a junior, he had 33 catches for more than 600 yards and seven touchdowns. will have a full interview with the newest member of the West Virginia recruiting class later this evening.
