Members of the chapters will also have the opportunity to watch a special DVD collection of WVU football highlights from this past Sugar Bowl-winning season provided by the WVU Alumni Association and the WVU Athletic Department.
"The past year has been one of the most exciting times in Mountaineer history," said Steve Douglas, Alumni Association president and chief executive officer. "Our alumni and friends who support these young men and women have been eager to do something special to celebrate these accomplishments, and this special `Elite to Sweet' nationwide event is a great way to bring everyone together, wherever they may be, and celebrate our Mountaineer pride."
Stephen Albright, a WVU alumnus and president of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association, is excited about this event and anticipates a great turnout.
"We may be thousands of miles away from our alma mater, but our hearts remain at WVU," he said. "This is a great way to bring all of the Mountaineer fans together and celebrate the school we love."
The WVU Alumni Association, chartered in 1873, represents more than 165,000 University graduates residing in every county in West Virginia, every state in the union and approximately 60 foreign nations. With nearly 100 registered chapters and constituent groups, the Association's 26,000 dues-paying members support Homecoming Weekend, the WVU Academy of Distinguished Alumni and dozens of other social and philanthropic programs.
