Six Titles

West Virginia University has named swimmer Chris Hagedorn the athlete of the week for his outstanding performance at the Big East championships, in which he won or was a part of six titles.

Hagedorn, the first Mountaineer to ever be named Big East Swimmer of the Year, won two individual titles in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle, and was also a participant on four Big East champion relays. The Clarksburg, W.Va., native captured the 50 free in a time of 19.57 seconds, which not only qualifiues him for Nationals, but also set a new WVU and Big East record. His second individual win was in the 100 free in 44.48, breaking a 20- year-old school record.

The senior won titles in the four victorious relays in the 200 medley, 200 free, 400 medley and 400 free.

Hagedorn's performance helped propel the Mountaineers to a total of eight titles at this years Big East championships, in which they broke three conference records and set 14 new school marks.
