Stupka (1-0) allowed just two hits and no runs over six innings as the Mountaineers shut out the Hokies 5-0. Stupka struck out two in six innings of work before yielding to Kenny Durst, who pitched the final three innings for the win.
"That was a great performance by Stupka," WVU head coach Greg Van Zant said. "He made some big pitches when he got into some situations."
WVU is now 5-1, its best start since 1969. The Mountaineers face Furman and Coastal Carolina this weekend in Conway, S.C.
