Just as the beginning of basketball season overlaps the end of the football slate, the revers is true when March Madness heats up.

While many schools aren't fortunate enough to experience the thrills of both the Big Dance and bowl season, West Virginia has been one of the handful of universities to participate in both the past two years.

What that means, however, is crunch time for those of us covering both sports at WVU, and that time is upon us again as spring football practice kicks off in just one week.

WVU will open drills on Monday, March 20, and conduct four practices the first week. The first two, on Monday and Wednesday, will be in shorts, with the first back-to-back sessions in pads on Friday and Saturday.

The pattern will repeat itself the next two weeks, with Saturdays slated for scrimmage sessions. The final week of April 10 will see Monday and Wednesday sessions, and will wrap up with the annual Gold/Blue Game at 12:30 p.m. on April 15.

As usual, adminssion is $5, with proceeds going to support WVU Children's Hospital.
