Football Schedule Rotation Changes

The BIG EAST has announced changes to its conference football schedule rotation beginning with the 2005 season.

In odd years, beginning in 2005, West Virginia will host BIG EAST opponents Boston College, Pitt, Virginia Tech and league newcomer Connecticut at Mountaineer Field. In even years, beginning in 2006, the Mountaineers’ home conference opponents will be Miami, Syracuse and Rutgers.

"This will give us a schedule that’s more accommodating to our fans," says WVU athletic director Ed Pastilong of the revisions.

Currently, WVU plays Syracuse, Miami and Boston College at home in even years, and faces Rutgers, Temple, Virginia Tech and Pitt at home in odd campaigns.

On the surface, the new schedule arrangement appears to be much more balanced, as it splits home dates among Miami, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Syracuse.
