Tevis Honored by WVU

West Virginia University has named Abbey Tevis of the Mountaineer volleyball team as its athlete of the week.

The junior outside hitter played in 15 games for WVU during the previous week, and pounded home 35 kills for the Mountaineers during a tournament at Southern Illinois. She also recorded 38 digs, and was named to the Saluki Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has 52 kills and 48 digs in just 18 games on the season. She leads the Mountaineers with 2.89 kills per game.

Tevis, an very good all-around player who contributes both offensively and defensively, is a graduate of North Allegheny High School, where she was a first team all-section, all-region, and all-state performer. She is also a member of the WVU Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll and a Big East Academic All-Star.
