Early Start

Although the Class of 2007 is only three-fifths complete, West Virginia has already gotten its first commitment for the Class of 2008.

Junior offensive lineman Josh Jenkins of Parkersburg, (W.Va.) High School has made a verbal commitment to the Mountaineers. Jenkins, who has visited WVU's campus several times over the past couple of years, pledged to WVU after a trip to campus with his mother on Thursday.

A big offensive linemen with excellent physical tools, Jenkins has tremendous potential. He moves very well, maintains a balanced and solid base, and figures to have no problem developing upper-echelon strength -- all of which should combine to make him one of the top rated offensive line prospects in the East next year.

Long a West Virginia fan, Jenkins has been leaning in the Mountaineers' direction for quite some time. After a final visit to the WVU campus, he made his choice official on Friday.

BlueGoldNews.com will have more with Jenkins coming soon. He recorded 82 tackles, four sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries on defense as a sophomore. He earned first team All-State and All-Mountain Conference honors as a sophomore.
