Three Basketball Players Reinstated By NCAA

WVU has been advised by the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee that the school's request for reinstatement of eligibility for three men's basketball players has been approved.

WVU submitted the results of its self report of actual and alleged rules violations to the NCAA on June 20th. The NCAA requested additional information during July, which WVU immediatley provided.

The self-reported violations involved the provision of lodging, transportation and occasional meals to prospective student athletes priot to their full-time enrollment at WVU. The three individuals, believed to be Drew Schifino, Tyrone Sally and Tim Lyles, were declared ineligible for competition, but were restored after nominal repayment of the benefits they received.

"I've said all along how pleased I've been with how the University handled this investigation so thoroughly," said WVU men's basketball coach John Beilein in a prepared statement. "I have been confident that the pending issues would be resolved as quickly as possible, and they were. Now it's time to put these issues behind us and move on with a fresh start."
