Into the Break

Darris Nichols believes he detected a bit of anticipation for Christmas break during West Virginia's win over The Citadel.

Despite WVU's quick start in the game, Nichols thought West Virginia might have been a bit sloppy and unfocused against the Bulldogs. Although WVU did suffer just nine turnovers and shot a respectable 43.4% from the field, the Mountaineers scored just 25 second-half points while making just four of 14 shots from beyond the arc.

Nichols thinks that WVU might have been looking ahead to the brief Christmas break, which is the team's first time off since the second session of summer school.

In this interview, Nichols discusses this topic and more, including the Mountaineers' performance to date and his schedule at home over Christmas.

The basketball team reconvenes after the holiday to prepare for two games in three days. The first will be against Maryland - Eastern Shore on Dec. 28, followed by the Big East opener against Connecticut on Dec. 30.
