West Virginia quarterback Patrick White headlined a list of six players named to the 2006 ECAC Division I-A All-Star Team.
In addition to copping first team quarterback honors, White was also named ECAC Player of the Year. With 1,074 yards on the ground and 1,524 yards through the air, White is the first player in Big East history to rush for over 1,000 yards and throw for over 1,000 yards in the same season. Leading the Mountaineers to a 10-2 record, White currently ranks eighth in the country in both scoing (9.3 ppg) and point responsibility (15.3 ppg) heading into the Toyota Gator Bowl against Georgia Tech
on January 1, 2007.
Joining White as first team offensive selections were running back Steve Slaton and offensive linemen Dan Mozes and Jeremy Sheffey. Eric Wicks and Keilen Dykes were named first team defensive performers.
White will be honored at the annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet presented by FieldTurf Tarkett at the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 15, 2007. The annual
event honors the top football playing institutions and student-athletes in the East.
